Several Years ago Penny & I switched from using our beautiful wooden  displays to an ABSTRACTA^® display. We did this for several reasons. The three most important were:

1. We wanted to be able to fly to shows therefore allowing us more time in the studio creating.
2. It got old, very quickly, moving 300 hundred pounds of display in and out of our van every weekend.  We also felt a little ridiculous carrying our entire stock in a computer bag, but then having to assemble several hundred pounds of display cases.
3. And we were able to downsize from a full size van to a minivan.  My gasoline bill thanks me, and its amazing how much easier it is to get around a show during setup or breakdown with a smaller vehicle.

For several years we were content with using ABSTRACTA^®. We flew from coast to coast carrying our entire display in  five, fifty pound wheeled suitcases and one bag for our canopy. The ABSTRACTA^® was lighter than our wooden displays and was easier setting up and breaking down.  However, with the ongoing changes by the airlines' on luggage policy, airline passengers are not allowed as many check-on bags as pre 9-11.  Because shipping is unreliable and requires extra trips to the airport, or shipping facility, we realized that our current display was good, but it needed to be made of a lighter material that steel.  Over the course of several months and with the help of Bryan Lepley (Operations Manager for the ABSTRACTA^® line) we developed a line of ABSTRACTA^® tubing that is made entirely of Extruded Aluminum.  In most cases the entire tubing structure weights about 25-30 lbs.

The most important result of our New Aluminum ABSTRACTA^® is our entire display now fits in only 3 suitcases instead of 5.  We were able to drop TWO 60 POUND suitcases by switching to the New Aluminum ABSTRACTA^® display while at the same time adding 2 square feet of additional display case. After using our new Aluminum ABSTRACTA^® display for several months we felt ready to offer it to our fellow artists.
